How to acclimatize your pet fish

Quarantine your fish in conditioned water:

We ensure that your fish are in good health and free of parasites prior to shipping and we stand behind our quality guarantee. Transit from our facility to new home can be stressful for the new fish, hence they could be early attacked by pathogens and could make them carriers for them. We recommend to quarantine your fish prior to releasing them to your existing stock .Please use dechlorinated and aged water for quarantine your new fish. It better to have water aged for 48 hours. Do not share water or any equipment from your other community tank(s) as it could possibly cause cross contaminate. Please consider disinfection the equipment’s prior to sharing it. Keeping your new fish completely separated from your existing fish is very important .You should release the new fish to your community tank only if you are fully satisfied with condition of your news fish. Quarantining your fish gives an opportunity to keep a close eye on them as well as allow them to have ample amount of time to recover from transit. It is also very important to be certain that your existing fish are free of diseases before you introduce your new fish to the community tank.

Equalising water temperature and transferring you fish to quarantine tank:

Once you receive your delivery please open the parcel and examine your fish in the shipping bag, report if there in any DOA. Leave the bag in room temperature till they get almost equalised once the temperature got equalised you can float the bag in the quarantine tank for next 10-20 mts till the temperatures get equalised. Please wash your hands thoroughly before you handle your new fish. Then open the bag and simply use your hand to scoop the fish out. Your fish will likely be a bit stressed from the shipping. This is normal, but the fish generally recover easily and quickly. As part of the stress response, some fish will generate extra “slime-coat “its normal. There is not a need to fill the bag with your new water as you would want your fish to be in clean and fresh water only. Do not pour the water in the bag into your quarantine tank. We don’t recommend any treatments or medicated foods upon arrival. The fish will generally be a bit lethargic, and might sit on the bottom the first few hours or sometimes first day or two.

NOTE: Even if your fish is of Cold water or tropical species, we don’t recommend putting your fish in really cool water upon arrival. It’s better to set up the quarantine tank between 25-30c depending on the species you buy. If you buy a Cold water fish like goldfish and plan on putting your fish in an outdoor pond, we recommend you acclimatise the fish indoors in a tank first, then slowly (over several days, weeks or even months) reduce the temperature and introduce them to the pond.

Feeding: We recommend you to start with very light feedings of moistened food. It is not recommended to not give them dry pellets or flakes as these foods could cause constipation or intestinal infections due to much slower digestion. Your fish might be fasted for a couple days before shipment, so moist foods help get things flowing through the GI tract.

Wish you a happy fish keeping!
